Tech Chat | Enhancing Teamwork: Sharing Coordinate System Parameters in SingularPad Software

Effective communication is crucial for successful project execution, especially when multiple surveyors are engaged in a collaborative project. One key aspect is the seamless sharing of coordinate system parameters. Only when all measurements align within a unified framework can the data obtained by individual surveyors seamlessly converge. In this blog post, we'll explore how to effortlessly share these parameters with your fellow surveyors using the SingularPad software.

Setting Coordinate System Parameters

When initiating a new project in SingularPad, coordinate system parameters play a vital role. For certain countries, predefined parameters are available in the template. To configure your project, simply choose your country and then select the appropriate coordinate system from the content list, as illustrated below.

In cases where the required parameters are not available in the template, manual entry becomes necessary. There are seven parameter categories, including Ellipsoid Parameter, ITRF Parameter, Projections Parameter, Datum Parameter, Horizon Adjustment, Vertical Adjustment Parameter, and Local Offsets. While Ellipsoid and Projections Parameters are mandatory, the remaining parameters can be tailored based on your project's requirements. Unnecessary parameters can be set to none, as depicted in the screenshot below.

Sharing Coordinate System Parameters

Sharing coordinate system parameters with your colleagues is a seamless process in SingularPad. After configuring your parameters, simply click on the 'Share' button. This action will generate a share code and a QR code. To share parameters with your colleagues, follow these steps:

  1. Open SingularPad on your colleague's device.
  2. Click on the plus sign in the upper right corner.
  3. Choose 'Share Code' and input the share code or select 'Scan QR Code' and scan the QR code to import parameters.
  4. Click 'Save & Apply' to automatically save and apply the parameters to the current project.

Alternatively, you can save and export the coordinate parameters as a .sys file. This file can be shared with your colleagues' devices via Bluetooth or cable, ensuring efficient coordination.

In conclusion, SingularPad software provides a user-friendly interface for setting and sharing coordinate system parameters. Whether through share codes, QR codes, or file exports, the process is straightforward, facilitating smooth collaboration among surveyors. Upgrade your coordination practices with SingularPad for enhanced efficiency in your surveying projects.
