Tech Chat | How to Get NMEA Messages from SAgro-Series Autosteer Kits
In modern agriculture, recording and monitoring field operations is essential for efficient farm management and data analysis. SingularXYZ autosteer software can record the operated area in real-time with 0.1 square meter accuracy. For farmers that needs higher accuracy and more detailed information, they can collect real-time NMEA messages from their autosteer systems. NMEA messages, including GPGGA with latitude, longitude, and positioning status, also provide speed and attitude information. They are crucial for applications like precision planting, field mapping, yield monitoring, and automated guidance systems.

Tech Chat – What is NMEA-0183 & GPGGA?
In today's blog, we'll use the SAgro200 as an example to provide a detailed step-by-step tutorial on setting up the output of NMEA messages.
Step 1: Select the Receiver and Sensor Type
For the SAgro200, select "SAgro200" in the receiver option and "Dual Gyro Sensor" in the sensor type.
Step 2: Configure the NMEA-0183 Output
Navigate to the Satellite > Data Output > NMEA-0183 Output interface. Select the NMEA messages you need and set the output frequency.
For the SAgro200, these NMEA messages will be output via the COM port of the receiver cable. As shown in the picture below, you can use an RS232 to USB converter to collect the output messages on your laptop.
By following these steps, you can efficiently set up your autosteer kit to output essential NMEA messages, enabling precise trajectory recording for better field data analysis and statistics.
