Tech Chat | How to Enable SBAS and PPP Mode on Sfaira ONE Series

For GIS tasks that don't require centimeter-level accuracy or when RTK correction services aren't available, PPP (Precise Point Positioning) and SBAS (Satellite-Based Augmentation System) modes offer excellent alternatives. These modes provide reliable sub-meter to 20cm accuracy without requiring a base station, making them ideal for a variety of field surveying applications.

In this blog, we'll guide you through enabling the SBAS and PPP functions on the Sfaira ONE Series receiver. For a detailed introduction to these technologies, check out our previous blogs:

Preparetion:

1. Products

  • SingularPad field surveying software
  • Sfaira ONE Series GNSS receiver
  • Data collector or Android devices

2. Check Firmware Version

Before enabling SBAS or PPP, confirm that your device has the correct firmware version:

  • Connect Sfaira ONE receiver to SingularPad software via Bluetooth
  • Go to Device >> Communication >> Debug page, send the command "log version"
  • Verify that the firmware version is 11492 or higher.

Tip: If your firmware version is lower, please contact our technical support team for an update. (support@singularxyz.com)

Work Mode 1 - Enable PPP Mode (20cm Accuracy)

PPP delivers high-precision positioning with approximately 20cm accuracy, ideal for tasks without a base station. To enable PPP:

  1. Tap Rover in the software menu.

  2. Select Datalink as PPP.

  3. Choose the Data Type based on your needs and click Apply.

    - E6-HAS (Galileo)
    - B2b (BDS)

  4. After configuration, the positioning status in the top status bar will change to Converging. Wait approximately 10 minutes for convergence to complete, after which the device will achieve PPP status.

Work Mode 2 - Enable SBAS Mode (Submeter Accuracy)

SBAS provides sub-meter accuracy without a CORS service. Follow these steps to enable SBAS:

  1. Tap the Satellite icon in the software interface.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Toggle the SBAS option to ON.

When SBAS is successfully enabled, the positioning status in the top status bar will change to DGNSS.
