Tech Chat | How to Add and Connect Devices to the SingularThings IoT Platform?

With the launch of the P2 safety solution, the SingularThings IoT platform has gained significant attention in industries like construction safety, inspection, and personnel tracking. This platform offers extensive customization options, making it adaptable to various operational needs.

In this blog, we'll walk you through adding and connecting P2 devices to the SingularThings platform, followed by an overview of its customizable features.

Before starting, ensure you have:

1. SingularThings Platform login URL and account credentials provided by the SingularXYZ team.
2. P2 series GNSS receiver ready for setup.
3. SingularNav Android configuration software.

Step 1: Adding a Device to SingularThings Platform

Navigate to Entities > Devices in the SingularThings platform, click Add new device.

Select the newly added device to view its details, then click Manage Credentials.

In Device Credentials section, change Access Token to MQTT Basic. Set the Client ID, Username, and Password, which will be used in P2 device settings later. Then click Save to complete the setup. 

Step 2: Connecting P2 to the IoT Platform

1. Open the Singular Nav app and go to the IoT section.
2. Input the following details:
   • Client ID
   • Username
   • Password
3. Toggle Enable and click Save.
4. Check the status. If it shows Connection, the device is successfully connected.

Note: Ensure the information entered here matches the credentials set in the SingularThings platform.

5. Once connected, the device's state in the IoT platform will update to Active.
