Tech Chat | How to set up SV100 as a portable base?

When using SV100 GNSS receiver as base, it can be set up as both CORS station or portable base. In previous blogs, we’ve mentioned how to configure SV100 as reference stations via PC. Today, let us introduce how to set up SV100 as a portable base in the field for your surveying rovers, tractors or construction machines.

Preparation

  • SV100 GNSS receiver and SA100 GNSS antenna.
  • External power.
  • SIM card for GSM mode.
  • Other accessories, including 4G antenna/whip antenna, tripod, 30cm extension bar and related cables.

Installation

To install the SV100 portable base, please follow the following steps:

  • Install the detachable hook on the bottom of the SV100 and it can be easily attached to the tripod.
  • Install the SA100 antenna on the tripod and connect with SV100 via the GNSS cable.
  • If you are using GSM mode, install the 4G antenna and insert a SIM card in SV100. If you are using internal radio mode, install the whip antenna on SV100.
  • Connect SV100 to the external power via DC cable.

Note:

  1. If you need to set the base on a known point, please use a tribrach to center and level the SA100 antenna and measure the height from the ground to the ARP of SA100 antenna.
  2. The radio module is optional.

Configuration

Users often need to configure the portable base on site, so using a PC to configure is not as convenient as using a mobile phone. SingularXYZ team provides two methods to configure the SV100 via smart phone.

Method 1: Configured via SingularNav Android software, which will be released soon.

Method 2: Configured via SV100 webpage:

Step 1 Login the Webpage of the SV100

Connect to the WiFi of SV100 (default WiFi password: 12345678) through a mobile phone, the name of WiFi is the SN of SV100. Open the mobile browser and enter the IP 192.168.10.12 to enter the web page of SV100 and log in.

If you are using a known point for base station, please go to Device Configuration >> Antenna Setting to input the antenna parameters first. Enter the measured height and select the Antenna Type as SA100. Then go to Device Configuration >> Working Mode to input the known base coordinates.

Step 3: Set Work Modes

1. Internal GSM mode (standard)

Go to Device Configuration >> GSM Config to Startup the 4G first.

Then go to Work Management >> Data Transmission, click to Config the NTRIP Server channel, enter the Caster address, Port, Mountpoint name and related settings to transmit the base differential data to the NTRIP caster. Then check the Startup box and click OK.
